John Deery
proudly announces the limited pre-release of
his debut CD, Insignificant Other
August 11th at Shoal Creek Saloon in Austin.
The CD features 8 orginal tracks along
with a fabulous cover of "Have you Ever Seen
the Rain." The CD is produced by
Austin's Michael Barnett and was recorded at
Edible Records studio. John gets plenty of
help from a Significant number of
talented friends on this CD. Texas'
favorite honky tonk angel Pauline Reese
lends her vocal support on several tracks.
Aben Eubanks of Kelly Clarkson's band plays
lead guitar, lap steal, dobro and acoustic
guitar. And of course members of the John
Deery Band join in the mix. Texas music
legend Rusty Weir joins on the debut, "Trail
of Blood." This special song was written
about a man John sat next to on a flight to
Nashville. The gentleman was older in years
and shared many stories with John and
another passenger in their row. He informed
them he was dying of lung cancer and planned
to spend his last days with family in
Tennesee. Shortly before landing, that
gentleman was called home to his
creator. John and the other passenger
in the row decided they would put this
man's stories in a song. The other
passenger happened to be famed songwriter
Billy Joe Shaver. John and Billy Joe agreed
share these stories with the world. "Trail
of Blood" is final track on the CD and is a
memorial to man who they never gave his name
but left a lasting impression on these two
songwriters.
Stayed tuned for
the official release date and more news
about Insignificant Other.

Also, the band was mentioned in a Lake
Travis View article.
This is an
excerpt taken from the Dec. 8th edition of
the Lake Travis View.
There was
also pictures of Rusty Wier, Stewart Cundy,
and John Deery in the print edition:

When the band
took a break, a few of the Tilly's crowd
decided to go check out the John Deery Band
over at Detours for a while. Since I had
never seen them, I decided to go along and
also see what had transpired at the old Big
Dave's Dam Saloon. Not much has changed
except for the location of the bandstand and
some of the pool tables. The stage has been
moved back to the back of the large room, so
when you walk in the north side of the
building, you don't have to boogie your way
though the dancers.
John Deery and
band were on a break when we got there, but
were soon up to full speed. They can do rock
and country in the same set and never miss a
lick. The band members are Stewart Cundy on
lead guitar, Dave Dilling on bass, Joey
Bruno on drums, Vinnie Farbrozo playing
fiddle and of course, John Deery on guitar
and singing lead. Guest vocalists later in
the night were Shane Starkland and Rusty
Wier. I recognized Shane from another band I
saw later year, Judge and the Jury...
... The John
Deery Band will be playing New Year's Eve at
Detour. No cover charge and free breakfast
will be served after ringing in the New
Year.
